Youth Innovation Center
At Innovation Center on Expo Shanghai the leading 100 innovations for the 7 topics Environment & Ecology, Energy, Mobility, Architecture, Education, Science & Technology and Health will be presented to the public.
Innovative products, innovative materials, innovative processes and research results will be explained to and can be experienced by the visitors of Expo at Innovation Center. Shanghai will be the host of the united power of ideas from all over the world: the best and most interesting innovations in the world will be presented at Youth Innovation Center. “Better City - Better Life” is the over all theme for innovations and research institutions as well as companies world wide are still called up to submit their innovation to be part. Finally, the 100 top innovations making our life different in the future will be selected as exhibits for the magnolia-halls. All eligible innovations will be part of the World Innovation Database.
Visitors of the spheres of the magnolia flower can choose between a “Fast Track”, meaning a fast tour through the specific fields of knowledge, and a detailed walkabout. There will be up to 15 innovations in each sphere. Visitors are allowed to try and to test the functionality of most of them. Everyone who is leaving Youth Innovation Center has seen what has the potential to change our lives for the future and bring mankind ahead. At the outside of the Magnolia building an impressive multimedia-show is taking place and summarizes the ideas of the future.
Themes
Seven big themes of the future
The magnolia flower building has 6 outer and one inner sphere, according to the seven themes of innovations for a better life.
The first petal is presenting innovations about Environment and Ecology. The range here will be from clean coal technology to biotechnological solutions like using algae to produce energy and genetic engineering. Ecologic cities of the future will be also a topic.
Energy as one central theme for our future is the subject of the second magnolia petal. Of course photovoltaic will be one subject, but innovations as a refrigerator that does not need any electric power or a skyscrapers, which produces energy for the whole building by its own, are just examples out of the spectacular innovation projects in this area.
For the third petal the topic Mobility has been chosen. New driving systems will be shown, like a super fast electronic car with 1000 PS, new solutions for electronic batteries and electronic cars that can fill up with energy while driving on the road. Innovations regarding safety driving and innovative features for cars will be shown as well.
The forth petal will present innovations of the field of Architecture. The way our cities will be designed and out of which materials, is one of the challenging topics of the 21st century. Visitors can experience inside smart home living of the future, learn about intelligent materials such as low heat coating that keep cool themselves and therefore save energy in low energy houses. Another innovation that will be introduced is self healing concrete, that has the permanent ability to close by itself emerging cracks.
Education and innovation is especially important for the young generation which will provide the leaders of the future. Therefore it is the topic of the next petal. Self training and life-long learning is needed in a changing world and methods and solutions how to pass on experience and knowledge and how to share it come from different scientific angles.
The sixth petal is dedicated to innovations about Health. In today’s global world innovations concerning health are a key issue and make a significant change for our every day live. In this sphere for example it will be presented innovative tele medical services to be used for emergency cases in airplanes. Other innovations include ways cure blindness with a new technology, as medical technology is a very large field with many innovative solutions. One more on this field is a television with integrated hearing aid that can replace using a hearing device.
The inner circle of the flower is purposive to the theme Science and Technology. One field of innovative solutions here is voice control for electronic devices, another sector is dedicated to material technology like heat-proof nano pipes for aviation and space technology. Computer technology, optical technology, laser technology and robotic provide also a large scale of solutions for our future life.
